Employee Spotlight: Miguel San Martin

A Life Built on Adventure

If DG3 had its own version of those “Most Interesting Man in the World” commercials, Miguel San Martin might be the star. His story begins in a mountain village in Chile, where he dreamed of exploring beyond his borders. With little more than determination — and fifty dollars from his mother — he left home to chase opportunity. Hospitality became his passport, taking him first to Canada, then to Miami, Switzerland, Dubai, and beyond.

Miguel bartended his way through school, learned English on the fly, earned scholarships at Cornell and Les Roches, and even launched entrepreneurial ventures in Europe. Along the way, he built a reputation for resilience, curiosity, and leadership rooted in putting people first. “Education was always my way forward,” he says. That philosophy continues to guide how he approaches both business and life.

Family adventures have become part of the story, too. With his nine-year-old son and seven-year-old daughter, Miguel has visited the Arctic Circle, climbed the pyramids, stood on the Great Wall of China, and chased Pokémon in Japan. “Every year we pick a trip,” he says, smiling. “It’s about discovery, but also about sharing experiences together.”

The business he leads

Today, Miguel channels that same spirit of adventure into leading DG3’s Cruise Industry Managed Services. At its core, the work is logistics: getting the right materials to the right ship, at the right time, in the right amount. But under Miguel’s leadership, the operation has become something more. His team manages more than a thousand onboard printers and nearly a hundred production machines — while embedding graphic artists and technical experts directly on board.

The result is a model no competitor matches: 24/7 design, troubleshooting, and support that keeps some of the world’s largest cruise lines running smoothly. Miguel often refers to it as “my company,” reflecting the ownership he feels over its success. “When ships can’t print, entire guest experiences are impacted,” he explains. “We make sure that never happens.”

Why we spotlight our people

Our Employee Spotlight series celebrates the people who make DG3 more than a company. Miguel’s journey — from a $50 start to a career spanning 110 countries, two children, and one of the most unique service lines in our business — is a reminder that expertise and personality together make the biggest impact.

If you ask us, he might just be the “Most Interesting Man in the World.” And we’re proud to call him a colleague.
