Employee Spotlight: John Meyer, Account Manager
A Creative Beginning

John Meyer’s career path isn’t exactly traditional—and that’s part of what makes his perspective so valuable at DG3. After earning a degree in Video Production and Media Studies from Rutgers University – Newark, John initially set his sights on the entertainment world. He packed up and moved to Los Angeles, where he dove headfirst into the fast-paced world of TV production. He worked on set and in casting for major network shows like Glee and True Blood—experiences that were as creatively thrilling as they were unconventional. That chapter of his life taught him how to read people, move quickly, and adapt to the unexpected.
A Pivotal Choice
When the opportunity arose to return to New Jersey and attend Rutgers tuition-free, John decided to pivot. It wasn’t a step back—it was a thoughtful choice to pursue education and build on his creative roots in a new way. While his passion for storytelling remained strong, his interests began to shift. He became increasingly drawn to roles that combined strategic thinking with people-centered problem solving.
Where Strategy Meets Relationship
That transition led to an impressive nine-year career at SHI International Corp., where John rose through the ranks in customer success and global account management—particularly in the demanding pharmaceutical space. He earned two Global MVP awards in 2023 and maintained a Top 5 Global Account Manager ranking for two consecutive years. He’s led major technology rollouts, supported global campaigns, and helped simplify complex systems for high-value clients.
But for John, success has never been about quotas or flashy metrics. It’s always been about relationships—real, sustained, human relationships. He believes the most meaningful work happens when clients stop seeing you as a vendor and start seeing you as an extension of their team. That belief isn’t limited to customers; John brings the same relational mindset to his colleagues. He sees every conversation as a chance to build trust, spark ideas, and find better ways to collaborate.
“Relationships matter,” he says. “When people feel supported—whether they’re a customer or a teammate—everything changes. That’s how you turn work into something more than just transactions. That’s how you create meaning.”
Bringing Value to DG3
At DG3, John’s approach has already begun making a difference. He brings empathy, strategic insight, and an eye for the long game. He doesn’t just want to close deals—he wants to build something that lasts.
Beyond the Desk
John and his husband, who have known each other since high school, have been married for two years and live near his hometown in New Jersey. He’s close with his sister and parents, who recently relocated to Delaware. When talking about his sister’s growing family, John casually and sweetly said, “we had a baby”—a moment that says everything about how deeply connected and proud he is to be an uncle. Family is an important part of his life, providing the grounding and support that fuels his work and creativity.
Beyond the job title, John is a lover of lists—specifically Top 5s. Music, movies, TV shows—you name it, he’s ranked it. (And if we’re lucky, we might start publishing some of those lists on the DG3 blog.) He’s also recently started collecting vinyl records, diving deep into the physical side of music appreciation. That creative spirit and thoughtful attention to detail show up in everything he does.
