Summary
To maintain the procedures and controls of quality for Diversified Global Graphics Group. The prepress service associate (PPS) will ensure the integrity of proofs, proofreading, output of plates and processor maintenance. The PPS associates in the Pre-press Services department controls the quality output of the Pre-press Department. He/she is the last person in the department to see our product before plates go out to manufacturing or proofs are supplied to the client. The quality controls they provide well reduce press down time, ensure client satisfaction and reduce remake costs.
Accountabilities
Provide world service to our clients and DG3 from initial request to the delivery of printed products. Ensure that all quality procedures are followed, and all logging and tracking processes are maintained. Responsible for the integrity of Monarch input on jobs and time sheets. Escalate any job discrepancies to the supervisor of the department.
Summary Area
- Checking proofs and rule outs of Digital Blues and Color Proofs. Ruling out press sheets. Ensuring that position and pagination is correct.
- Take ownership of all jobs inspecting Digital Blues and Color Proofs. Ensuring that all corrections have been made and that the layout, pagination, trims, bleeds, position, screen rulings, screen angles, size, copy, color breaks, press, sheet size, layout, bindery method, margins and spine size are all correct. Requires Proofreading copy check, slugging lasers of copy and checking Preflight copy proofs.
- Log jobs into Monarch Accounting System and maintain the integrity of the information.
Pre-Press Service
- Checking plates. Ensuring that all corrections have been made and that the plate bend, layout, pagination, trims, bleeds, position, screen rulings, screen angles, size, copy, color breaks, press, sheet size, layout, bindery method, margins and spine size are all correct.
- Proofreading verbatim (upon request) proofs, press sheets.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Pre-Press – responsibilities include Checking press sheets. Rule out press sheets to ensure that the press specs are ok. Check color break, Proofreading verbatim/slug copy as required, ensure corrections have been made and take ownership by initialing press sheet.
- Professional to check the quality of jobs to be printed on press using DG3 Standard Operating Procedures.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Certification from a Graphic Communications Institution
- 3+ years’ experience working in a Pre-Press department
- Able to work collaboratively
Work Environment
The job is primarily performed in an office environment. Some work may be done in a manufacturing and/or warehouse environment that may be noisy, hot, and humid. The environment can be stressful at time with deadline pressure to complete multiple priorities.
